SEDER SONGS

I've written some lighthearted songs for your Seder - to be sung to well-known Abba tunes.

Chag same'ach!

VEY IZ MIR (Mama Mia)

I’ve been choking on you since I don’t know when

Now my digestion is under attack once again

Pesach is here, will I ever learn?

Alas I fear, there’s no stopping me once I start

There’s a burning within my heart

Just one piece and then the pain will begin

One more piece and then the heartburn sets in wo-o-o-oh

Vey iz mir here I go again

Matzah – how can I resist you?

Vey iz mir Pesach’s here again

Matzah –I really haven’t missed you

Oy how my stomach’s turning

And my poor heart is burning

Matzah – now that you are inside me

Vey iz mir now I really need

Matzah - an indigestion remedy

I’ve been writhing in pain from the things that you do

Sometimes you sit here for days, sometimes you pass right through.

Our ancestors’ haste meant their bread was flat

And had no taste – we admire their bravery

As they fled from their slavery.

Thanks to them we have to eat all this stuff

No more please – I really have had enough wo-o-o-oh

Vey iz mir here I go again

Matzah – how can I resist you?

Vey iz mir Pesach’s here again

Matzah –I really haven’t missed you

Every year it’s a tradition

To eat bread of affliction

Matzah – will I ever let you go?

Vey iz mir –six more days to go

Matzah - will you ever let me go?

EXODUS! (Waterloo)

My my! After the tenth plague Pharaoh did surrender

Oh yeah! He finally saw the time had come to let the people go

The haggadah we read every year

Reminds us all why we are here

Exodus! Pharaoh defeated, we won the war

Exodus! We will remember for evermore

Exodus! The waters stood on each side of us

Exodus! We will remember the Exodus.

Exodus! We will remember the Exodus.

My my! After we left old Pharaoh tried to follow

Oh yeah! And he would meet his destiny in quite a watery way

His soldiers were following me

And they ended up in the sea

Exodus! Pharaoh has gone and he is no more

Exodus! We will remember for evermore

Exodus! We were oppressed but God rescued us

Exodus! We will remember the Exodus.

Exodus! We will remember the Exodus.

So how can we ever refuse

To tell the story of the Jews?

Exodus! Freedom for all is what we stand for

Exodus! We will remember for evermore

Exodus! The struggle for freedom depends on us

Exodus! We will remember the Exodus.

Exodus! We will remember the Exodus.

AFIKOMAN (Super Trouper)

Afikoman I am gonna find you

Once this meal is through

Like I always do

Cause somewhere in this room there’s you

I was sick and tired of everything

When we finally got our dinner

All we do is read, recite and sing

I can feel myself growing thinner

So I’m glad that we are eating now

Just a hardboiled egg will do

I can’t wait until dessert

So I can go and look for you

Because the

Afikoman – I am gonna find you

That’s my Seder quest

I will be the best

And find you before all the rest

Where is the

Afikoman? Where’s the rabbi put it?

Is it on a shelf

Or somewhere on himself

If I find it I’ll increase my wealth

There is so much matzah in this shul

Shouldn’t take me long to locate it

But our Rabbi Pete is not a fool

Here’s the other half that it must fit

So our task is a specific one

There’s a matzah to be found

Time to leave the Seder table

And have a good look around

Look for the

Afikoman I am gonna find you

Now this meal is through

Like I always do

Cause somewhere in this room there’s you

It’s time for

Afikoman – I am gonna find you

That’s my Seder quest

I will be the best

And find you before all the rest
